FIRE-BOX aims to enhance wildfire risk management across Italy by developing a suite of open-access tools that provide essential data and simulation capabilities for wildland fire prevention.

With the increasing frequency and intensity of wildfires, there is an urgent need for a coordinated, science-based approach to protect ecosystems, residential areas, and communities.

FIRE-BOX will provide harmonized data layers and geospatial tools designed to empower Italian land management agencies and professionals with advanced capabilities to assess and mitigate wildfire hazards, improve risk management strategies, and foster resilience against natural disasters.

FIRE-BOX is coordinated by the University of Milan and funded by the Italian Ministry of Research (PNRR PRIN funding 2022).
