From June 2nd to 5th, 2025, the 4th International Congress “Fire in the Earth System: Humans and Nature” was held in Angés, Portugal. This key event brought together the international scientific community engaged in the study of wildfires and their role in Earth system dynamics.
The conference gathered researchers, practitioners, and policymakers from around the world, with the aim of enhancing the understanding of fire behavior at national, continental, and global scales, in the context of climate change and human–nature interactions. Key topics included fire modeling, the ecological impact of fire, risk management, and adaptation strategies.
The Fire-Box project team also took part in the conference, presenting the project and the results achieved so far. This participation was an important opportunity to engage with the international scientific community and highlighted the relevance of Fire-Box activities within the European wildfire research landscape.
